So I did a thing, well I bought a thing that is more a doing than a basic inanimate object. I bought the original SUV. I bought a Jeep Wrangler, or it captured me, I’m not totally sure.

I have been wanting one for a very long time, but specifically since I worked for Chrysler Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romero. When I interviewed for the job, the main draw and buzzy brand was Jeep. I work for Jeep. I work at Jeep. I work in a Jeep. While I was there, I promised myself that I was going to get a Jeep as I drove myself back to forth to work. I was in a Prius, because I also used to work for Toyota Prius and because my commute was over an hour each way.

One of my favorite memories from working there was an event Jeep sponsored at RedRock Amphitheater in Colorado, Jeep on the Rocks. The concert was nice and theater is amazing Summer under the stars with the smell of legal ganja breezing through a work event is amazing. However the highlight for me was the set up, we had a delayed delivery of Jeeps and I was enlisted to place them up and down the mountain at Sunset. This was when I fell in love.

I’m a car chick as any daughter of a mechanic should be, but I am a little bashful about it for a lot of reasons. I had a friend of mine who when she found out that I worked for Jeep was enamored, because she was bound and determined to get a Jeep Wrangler for herself. I was still pushing my Prius. Who I loved and was very good to me, but she agrees she is no Jeep.

Years passed, and my friend got her Jeep and I was still pushing the Prius. I started to work for Nissan / INFINITI and I was still rolling in the not so deep in my paid off Prius. I mean I’m a mom a wife, who needs to ride topless with the doors off. Me. I do. I need to ride topless with doors off. Summertime Chi requires in. And Wintertime Chi needs the 4x4 drive.

I didn’t know it yet I was thinking ok its time to kick this new car situation off. And I started the process of what car looked like the me I wanted to look like, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Tiguan, Tesla, nope, no and nail. I’m a carman chick (pragmatic to a fault). I had told myself that once I had a big repair on my car I was going to buy another one. And when that happened I logged into Carmax.com and saw her sitting there just waiting on me.

BDE — Jeep Wrangler. She is tall, black on black, rugged with has good lines, history and can go any- GD-where. It was Valentine’s Day it was kismet and it is one of the best gift I have ever received.

BDE is her moniker, Bilquis, Divinity, Esi. She owes her name to Bilquis. That is the the given name of the Queen of Sheba, that had King Solomon dropping rhymes all over the Old Testament, because she is “Black and Comely” and My Neil Gaiman fans out there know the American Gods character Bilquis is the truth. Divinity, becuase she is named after a goddess. Esi because she is God’s Gift to me. So, when you see me tooling around in my BDE topless, give me a wave and I might duck you. Don’t get it, don’t worry, its a Jeep thing you wouldn’t understand.
